Nelson is a wonderful place to live for many people, but we still have challenges to overcome in order to make our community healthier, more inclusive, and socially just for all its citizens.
Between March 16 and 30, 2020, Nelson at its Best is asking people who live and work in Nelson and area to express their views on how to improve the quality of life in our community via a short survey with only eight questions which takes about four minutes to fill out. Community members can complete the survey online on Survey Monkey or in person at Nelson Public Library between March 16-19 and at Oso Negro Cafe on March 26 and 30.
Nelson at its Best last conducted such a survey in 2013. At that time, people identified a strong concern around poverty in our community, which led to the launch our ongoing End Poverty Initiative that is still working to examine the nature and scope of poverty in Nelson and to take action towards reducing its impact and incidence. What people tell us in Survey 2020 will help direct our focus moving forward.
Besides helping to inform Nelson at its Best’s activities, the survey results will be provided to local social service organizations, community-based funders and local government.
